Sustainable university

Interaction with the surrounding society

Besides research and education, interaction with the surrounding society is one important task for the university. This includes giving information about scientific discoveries, being responsible for public seminars and workshops, being a part in public debates, carrying out professional training and a lot more. Sustainable development, of course, is an important component and collaborating with the rest of the society in this field is essential.

To what extent does the university collaborate?

The public and popular scientific events changes in character, spanning from open lectures and debate articles to a science festival (Vetenskapsfestivalen) and the event Universitetsveckan (translates ‘University’s week’). For students there is a Sustainability Day each year planned and arranged to inspire and engage in sustainability issues. Several of the institutions at the university carry out their work in close collaboration with the surrounding society and arrange and participate in a large number of activities outside the academic sphere.
